About Children's Day
Children’s day is public holiday in South Korea. On this day all parents will go for outings and children will be enjoying the day with more happiness. A play performance, a writing competition, or a drawing competition will be held. It is observed as a public holiday since 1922. This day is commemorated to promote children welfare and protection. Bang Jeong-hwan who was a children's book writer promoted children’s day as a public holiday in 1923. He wrote a letter to adults that they neither shout nor mistreat children in 1923. This is not a public holiday in North Korea. On this day parents will be on work and children’s will be celebrating with small events.
