| The Independence Day of the Suriname is celebrated on 25th November. Suriname is situated between French Guiana to the east and Guyana to the west.The southern border is shared with Brazil and the northern border is the Atlantic coast.The first President of the country was Johan Ferrier, the former governor, with Henck Arron as Prime Minister.The whole country gathers in public Places around bonfires and listens to speeches about the independence of the country. Suriname celebrates the Independence Day mainly in the Paramaribo Palace, a grand colonial era building fronted by the Independence Square. On the day streets, colorful flags are raised on public buildings and private houses. |
