| About Independence and Unity Day |
| On December 26, Slovenia will celebrate her 17th birthday. On this day in 1990, official plebiscite results were announced indicating Slovenian independence. It was then that Slovenians gave the green light to a Slovenian people's government in preparation for eventual complete political independence, which was officially celebrated six months later on June 25, 1991. Because this historical venture would not have been possible without the firm unity of the Slovenian people, December 26 is named Slovenian Independence and Unity Day. This hyper-activity in the Slovenian homeland is also reflected in the work at the Consulate General of the Republic of Slovenia in Cleveland. In October and November, we organized Slovenia's presidential elections. |
