| The Victory Day of the Turkey is celebrated on 30th August. The Victory of Turkey over the invading Greek army, under the leadership of Ataturk in 1922. Victory Day is a national holiday and is celebrated throughout the country. Victory Day is also called Zafer Bayrami in the local language. Celebrations begin with the hoisting of the national flag and singing the national anthem, followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp ceremony. The armed forces also celebrate Victory Day with march-pasts. |
