| About New Year's Day |
| New Year’s Day is the first day of the year. New Year’s Day is celebrated on January 1st of every year as it is a customary from ancient Rome though other dates were also used in Rome. Almost in all countries New Year’s Day is a public holiday. Traditionally this is a religious feast day. But from 1900 this day has become an occasion of celebration especially at the night of December 31 which is called New Year Eve. This day is celebrated with fireworks at the strike of midnight. On this day many people take resolutions like quitting tobacco, smoking, and alcohol and lose weight etc. From the morning of January 1st people greet each other with “Happy New Year!” wishes at least for first couple of weeks. New Year’s Day in Uganda is also celebrated with much joy and happiness. |
