| International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8 in Ukraine. It is a public holiday. It is celebrated to commemoration of the political, economic and social achievements of women in Ukraine. This holiday marks their struggle for equality and development. This is considered as first spring holiday in Ukraine. Both men and women in Ukraine will look forward for this official national holiday. The International Women’s Day traces its origin back in March 8 of 1897 when women workers of sewing and shoe factories gathered in New York demanding 10 hour working day and equal salaries and rights in the working environment along with men. The International Women's day is a state holiday from the former Soviet Union’s Inception. It is recognized as official holiday in 1965. In Ukraine on this day men will express their love and respect to women of all ages around them like mother, sisters, co-workers, wife and friends etc. Women’s Day is especially popular in the Eastern and Central Ukraine. |
