| About Independence Day |
| Independence Day in the United States is celebrated on July 4th of each year. Independence Day is a federal holiday that commemorates the signing of the Declaration of Independence, which declared the thirteen American British Colonies to be an independent entity from Great Britan. Independence Day is commonly celebrated with fireworks, parades, speeches, barbecues, baseball games and flying the American flag. Thomas Jefferson, who was the principal author of the Declaration of Independence, died on Independence Day in 1826, the same day as his friend, political rival and fellow founding father John Adams. |
