| About Virgin Islands Thanksgiving |
| The third Monday of October is celebrated as Virgin Island Thanksgiving day or commonly known here as Hurricane Thanksgiving Day. The residents of the US Virgin Islands offer thanks for their safekeeping during the potentially lethal hurricane season that officially lasts from July through until the end of October. The day is a national holiday across the islands. The day is marked with prayer and often with a celebratory meal in the evening. It is a legal holiday. It is celebrated at the end of the hurricane season in the Virgin Islands! The celebrations are mainly centered on the church services. They would have services of thanksgiving for either sparing their lives if a hurricane had struck or sparing them from a storm through the hurricane season. |
