| About Ascension of the Prophet |
| In the Islamic faith, the holiday of Isra Al Mi'Raj is celebrated on the 27th day of the Muslim month of Rajab. The Ascension is one of the greatest miracles of the Prophet Muhammad, upon him be peace and blessings. The holiday marks the ascension of the Prophet Muhammad to Heaven, his meeting with earlier prophets and his revelation from Allah that Muslims must pray five times a day. The legend is that Muhammad is prepared for his meeting with God by the archangels Jibril and Mikal one evening while he is asleep in the Ka'bah, the sacred shrine of Mecca. They open up his body and purify his heart by removing all traces of error, doubt, idolatry, and paganism and by filling it with wisdom and belief. Muhammad's mi'raj has been a constant source of speculation among Muslims. |
