About Ashoora
Ashura is a religious observance celebrated every year by Muslims. The word ashura means simply tenth in Arabic language. Ashura is an ancient observance that is now recognized for different reasons and in different ways among Sunni and Shi'a Muslims. Ashura has been a day of the fasting for Sunni Muslims since the days of the early Muslim community. Ashura is a day of great historical significance. On this day Allah accepted the repentance of Sayyidina Adam after his exile from Paradise. Shi'a Muslims observe the day in mourning for Hussein and in remembrance of his martyrdom.
