About Buddha Parinirvana
This is a festival of Mahayana Buddhism. It is the day that Buddhist around the world remembers the Buddha's Parnirvana. It marks the death of the Buddha. This is sometimes also referred to as Buddha's Full and Final Enlightenment. Parinirvana is called in Sanskrit as parinirvāa and in Pali as parinibbāa and as bō niè pán in Chinese. Parinirvana is the final nirvana which will be learned only upon the death of the body of someone who has attained complete awakening. This is also known as bodhi. Mahaparinirvana in Buddhism is the great and complete Nirvana. After Enlightenment only Buddha achieved his freedom from physical existence and its sufferings. Buddha spent forty years teachings of Buddhism only after his Enlightenment. He died in a state of meditation and attained nirvana which according to Buddhism is a release from the cycle of death and rebirth. Parinirvana Day is celebrated by Buddhists by meditating or by going to Buddhist temples and monasteries. Food is also prepared on this festival day and also some people bring presents such as money, household goods or clothes.
