| About Double-Sixth Festival |
| Double-Sixth is a day when Chinese Buddhist monasteries and temples bring out all their books, air them out, clean them, and inspect them for damage. The day commemorates an event is ancient times when sacred Buddhist manuscripts were being brought from India to China. While crossing a river, the boat carrying them was overturned. The books had to be dried out on the river bank in the sun. Because of this, the day is also known as Airing the Classics. |
