| About Id-al'-Adha |
| Eid al-Adha or the Festival of Sacrifice is a religious festival celebrated by Muslims and Druze worldwide in commemoration of the willingness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God. Id-al'-Adha is celebrated during the Hajj. The Hajj is a religious pilgrimage taken during the last month of the Islamic year. The festival Id-al'-Adha represents the day when Abraham is ready to sacrifice his son in the name of the God. The meat is then shared out with family, friends (Muslims or non-Muslims), as well as the poor members of the community. Every year many thousands of sheep, goats, camels and other animals are sacrificed throughout the world on the occasion of the Id-al-Adha. |
