About Maha Shivaratri
Maha Shivratri is a festival celebrated every year on the 13th night/14th day in the Krishna Paksha of the month of Maagha or Phalguna in the Hindu calendar. The people who observe this Sivaratri Vratha take only single meal during the day previous to the Vratha day and sleep in clean place during the night.Lord Shiva also known as Mahadeva. Shiva is one of the three Gods of Hindu Trinity. Maha Shiva Rathri is celebrated throughout the India with much zeal and vigor. In Jammu and Kashmir the festival of Maha Shivratri is celebrated for fifteen days. The festival is principally celebrated by offerings of Bael (Bilva) leaves to the Lord Shiva, all day fasting and an all night long vigil. Maha Shivratri is also believed that on this day Lord Shiva was married to Parvati Ma.
