| About Memorial Lady Guadalupe |
| In Mexico, the festival or celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe begins in the week before December 12. Families begin to prepare food and decorate their homes; pilgrims begin to travel to Mexico City; some make part of the journey on their knees. Along with many church celebrations, processionals and ceremonies in Mexico and the U.S., December 12th is when hundreds of people make a pilgrimage to the Basilica of the Guadalupe in Mexico City, thought to be on the site when Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared. Commemorates the vision of the Virgin Mary to a young boy in 1531, and is celebrated with processions and dancing. |
