| Saraswati Puja is celebrated every year on the fifth day of the bright fortnight of the Magha month of the Indian calendar. On this day Goddess Saraswati is worshipped in various names the Goddess of Learning, the deity of Gayatri, the fountain of fine arts and science, and the symbol of supreme vedantic knowledge. Hindus all over the world celebrate Vasant Panchami festival with great enthusiasm. On the day Notebooks, pencils and pens are kept at the Devi's feet for blessings and then used by the students. The color yellow also plays an important role in this festival, in that people usually wear yellow garments, Saraswati is worshipped dressed in yellow, and yellow sweets are consumed within the families. Saraswati is the consort of Lord Brahma and is the Goddess of Wisdom and Knowledge. |
