| About St. John's Day |
| St. John's Day is celebrated on 24th June. The Nativity of St. John the Baptist is a Christian feast day celebrating the birth of Jesus’ cousin, Saint John the Baptist. Every year St John's Day is celebrated throughout Spain with an explosion of bonfires, fireworks, concerts and dances. The Feast of St. John coincides with the June solstice also referred to as Midsummers. The Christian holy day is fixed at June 24, but, in the old way, festivities are celebrated the night before, on St. John's Eve. Hospital staff in Jerusalem celebrated the St John’s Day (24 June) with their traditional Communion Service in the Hospital Chapel. This feast day is one of the very few saint's days to mark the anniversary of the birth, rather than the death, of its namesake. |
