About Valentine's Day
Valentine’s Day, also known as Saint Valentine’s Day, is celebrated annually on February 14. Valentine’s Day is celebrated in most western countries, but nearly all cultures have a similar holiday, such as The Night of Sevens in Chinese culture. The most prominent Valentine’s Day tradition is the exchange of love notes, or “valentines”. The Valentine’s Day tradition of giving Valentine’s Day Cards began in Great Britain and spread to the United States, which led to the ultimate commercialization of Valentine’s Day. Other Valentine’s Day traditions include giving flowers, candy and other signs of affection. Valentine’s Day is only second to Christmas in the number of greeting cards sent during the holiday season.
