On this day Goddess Saraswati is worshipped in various names the Goddess of Learning, the deity of Gayatri, the fountain of fine arts and science, and the symbol of supreme vedantic knowledge .The 5th day of the bright fortnight of the lunar month of Thai is the day of Vasant Panchami.. Hindus all over the world celebrate Vasant Panchami festival with great enthusiasm. On the day Notebooks, pencils and pens are kept at the Devi's feet for blessings and then used by the students. The color yellow also plays an important role in this festival, in that people usually wear yellow garments, Saraswati is worshipped dressed in yellow, and yellow sweets are consumed within the families. |
